Marcus Carter is a Professor in Human-Computer Interaction in the School of Architecture, Design and Planning, focusing on virtual reality, games and emerging technologies. He currently is leading an ARC Future Fellowship project on The Monetisation of Children in the Digital Games Industry.
Dr Mark Johnson, Deputy Director
Mark Johnson is a Senior Lecturer in Digital Cultures in the School of Languages, Arts and Media, whose work is focused on Twitch and game live streaming, esports, and the gaming-gambling intersection. He has recently published “Twitch“, the first book to bring together a full decade of research on the site.

Dr Ben Egliston, PLAY Theme
Ben Egliston is a Lecturer in Digital Cultures in the School of Languages, Arts and Media. He researches the political economy of media and technology, focusing on videogames and immersive media. He leads an ARC DECRA project about monetisation and financialisation in the videogame industry.
Dr Kazjon Grace, MAKE Theme
Kazjon (Kaz) Grace is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Architecture, Design, and Planning. His research brings together the cognitive science of creativity and the capabilities of generative AI. Specifically he’s exploring how intelligent systems can help us ask the right questions rather than just give us the (maybe) right answers, aiding our ability to develop, refine, and evaluate our ideas.
